Arrosseria Antoni Rubies: Artesa de Lleida roadside Bib stop for arròs a la marinera

I was on my way to Lleida and started looking for restaurants. I wanted a small stop and a decent menú, the way they mean it in Spain. Finding this arroceria was a beautiful surprise. A small village outside Lleida, the place was full, and it carries a Michelin Bib Gourmand. We still got a table.

Near the table there is a collection of old smartphones. iPhones, iPods, some iPads, other phones, on display. The owner told me he has been collecting them since the early beginning of that technology.

What was on the menu for us was cordero. The ribs were fascinating. We also had an arroz. When you get a portion for two they bring a full paella, the big pan, with shrimp and all sorts of seafood including squid. It took a while to cook and it was really lovely. Service was really good. They have ice cream for dessert and other options, but we basically went for good paella, some ribs, and a little bread.

Very nice, cozy place. Definitely the stopover I was looking for. I would go back with a larger group and try all the different paellas, because that seems to be what they do better.
